Who needs generic job-descriptions?
The applicants never see it.
The office goes to any length to explain why it doesn’t apply.
The APC gets irritated by it.
The supervisor couldn’t be bothered.
The incumbent doesn’t know it exists.
So far so good. This wouldn’t warrant a further thought. To
prepare generic job-descriptions may just be another piece of wasted paper and
process, which may however help to move people around during rotation time… but
wait a minute:
What does the mobility of staff has to do with achieving results for children?
To achieve results, the precise job at hand needs to be matched by the profile
and attributes of the incumbent. Every job is different and everybody is
especially good at something special. Job requirements evolve, and people
develop. And we want the right people in the right places.
In other words: Who needs generic people?
