Thumb-Drives and SITA-Worms

Recently I spent several days at inter-agency meetings. When I came with a diskette to load my PowerPoint presentation, everybody gasped. Because these days you use a high speed thumb drive, not a floppy.

During breaks, everybody sat in the secretariat downloading office email from the Internet, getting work done. Everybody except me. Because I have to rely on the charmingly-retro SITA to stay in touch.

I don’t use Lotus Organizer, except for email. Because I make most of my appointments when I am in a meeting, not when sitting in front of my desktop. So I am left to my own devices. But I enjoy my totally free and private web-mail without the ghastly spam and ultra-annoying doom-worm-whatever-virus that has become such a feature of our office mail.

Luckily, I don’t own a Blackberry, which seemingly everybody commuting in my train has got. So I can have my own thoughts.
