Dara Hike - Tajikistan

Summary: This is an easy hike into the Simiganj River Valley, which we did in mid-November 2014. The first snow had come, and the last donkeys returned to bring in the firewood. Soon the valley would be completely covered in snow and inaccessible.

In summer, the valley provides access to the high mountain ranges north-east of Dushanbe.

We did this hike with a group led by Hike Tajikistan, which is present on Facebook.

Dara is a little over one hour from Dushanbe.

General location and approach: East of Dushanbe, the last stretch to Dara village is narrow and subject to landslide, though the road was being improved. The road ends in Dara

The valley will be covered in snow for a long time. We hiked in mid-November, and the snow was likely to stay.

In summer, this would make a nice camping spot. From here, it would still be 1500 meter to the summit of the highest peak
